DL Novel Food is the “made in Italy” startup founded by Luca Costamagna and Davide Storino who deals with the intensive production of crickets for the production of flours for animal and human food.
Luca and Davide immediately realized that something in the traditional method of insect breeding did not work and that it would not have been possible to breed on a large scale to satisfy a high market demand.
The main causes are due to the fact that the classic breeding method does not provide for the automation of the process because it uses obsolete materials and methods that lead, among other things, to a high stress and therefore high mortality of the insect as well as a large use of personnel and a high waste of resources.
The equation that derives from the sum of these addenda is very simple.
At this point DL Novel Food decided to use the strengths and know-how acquired to bring to market an innovative, industrialized and eco-sustainable solution that allows intensive breeding almost automatically in full compliance with the habits and welfare of crickets.
The proposed solution is the AUTOMATIC FARM cell.
