This briefing paper sets out the administrative steps to be followed by insect producers intending to submit an application for authorisation of an insect/ insect product as novel food within the European Union.
It is intended to be used as a practical guide to the EU legislative texts that are applicable to their activities, namely Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 on novel foods and its implementing measures.
