The edible insects industry is growing fast, companies are evolving and their products too.
A fundamental part of the communication work aimed at the consumer is now based on the design of the product and the packaging, on the creative intervention of the Chefs, on the contribution of food critics and food technologists.
Image is undeniable also fundamental for a new product, especially in web times.
In this perspective started the project “EntoFood visions” by the photographer Denis Magro, who realized pics with edible insects and products that contain them, with a non-commercial approach and with italian taste.
How did you approach the world of edible insects?
I am a curious person, the idea to see this kind of new food closely has always fascinated me.
I was also curious to taste them, after all I can not find any difference with any other product we eat; this is just a novelty for us Westerners, so I certainly could not miss the opportunity to take pictures.
Being creative in such innovative subject is really exciting! Thus came the idea of this project that I called “Entofood visions”. It is a matter of creatively interpreting the image of insect-based products, rather than just from a commercial point of view.
What contribution can give the right image to a company’s marketing?
Image is essential for marketing! It must generate a positive feeling in the consumer, it is crucial. You can say a lot without words, but the image must be at the same time powerful and thoughtful.
What are your plans for the future regarding photography and edible insects?
Surely the costant upgrade of the project “Entofood visions” because in the field of edible insects photography finally no longer speaks of the future, but of the present.
I’ll continue experimenting between artistic and commercial pics.
I would also like to move abroad and know the manufacturers more closely.
Are you available to work on communication campaigns for companies in the sector?
Absolutely, I worked on products of many manufacturers from all over the world, so it would be very interesting to realize a whole campaign.
