EFSA has launched a public consultation on two draft guidance documents in the area of novel foods. EFSA developed the documents following the adoption in November 2015 of the EU Regulation on novel foods.
The first document specifies the requirements applicants need to meet when submitting applications for the authorisation of novel foods. The second document concerns the information applicants need to provide to demonstrate the history of safe use of traditional foods from third countries. EFSA invites interested parties to submit written comments by 21 April 2016.

EFSA also invites stakeholders to a meeting on the two draft guidance documents to be held on 11 April 2016 in Brussels. Registration for the meeting ends on 14 March 2016. The meeting gives stakeholders including Member States, international organisations, academic institutions, NGOs and representatives of the private sector the opportunity to exchange views with EFSA experts on both documents.
