You’ve designed and realized a terrarium for edible insects domestic breeding, how you got the idea?
The project “Home breeding” was born because I was invited to participate to the exhibition “The selective affinities” in Triennale (Milan) by Aldo Colonetti; the theme was food (for Expo).
For some time I’ve been interested in insects (I designed a hive for urban beekeeping in the garden of the Triennale) and then I start thinking about an object for the future scenarios related to insects as human food. We’ve to imagine scenarios of food self-sufficiency not controlled by the multinationals companies, and with edible insects it’s possible. Maybe the solution could not be a domestic edible insects farming…but on condominium/neighbourhood-scale…
What is the meaning of an object like this?
To break prejudices and misgivings, to make everyone thinks about the fact that if we want to better the situation we must radically change our habits.
