The theme of entomophagy and insects as a resource for animal feed production is relatively recent.
The events organized as part of Expo have allowed a global resonance of the argument, with a lot of interest and curiosity by the public, especially in Europe.
Many people were not aware of the issue before, or at least they had categorized entomophagy as “oddity”. Now this is changing very quickly..
L’Entomofago also wants to give informations to those persons who for the first time are entering the world of insects and in contact with the idea of eating them, that are interested in cooking with edible insects, in medical or business aspects.
For these reasons we will publish studies and documents of various kinds that help beginners to compose an overview of the most important steps, for a better orientation.
We hope the readers who have been following closely and for a long time the development of the issue will not find the initiative an unnecessary duplication.
We start from the FAO Report “Edible insects. Future prospects for food and feed security “of 2013 that involves all aspects of the matter: insects as food for humans and animals, breeding, sanitary risks, industrialization and mechanization of the transformation processes.
